Christian Work Ethic 9-1-99 Intro; - Do you think your faith should be seen everywhere? - The Bible teaches that our faith should touch every aspect of society //not just in the Church house - Can you imagine what your work place would be like if everyone based his work on His relationship to GOD? - Our text is almost identical to Eph 6:5-9 - Both deal with the critical subject of the worlds economy: slave to master, labor to management, employee and employer - These Scriptures point out that the basic problem in the work place is SPIRITUAL not Economical - To carry this a step further we must have a work ethic in the Lords work// Officers and teachers// Workers and Helpers - If most Businesses were run like most churches they would be BANKRUPT in short order! - It takes Spiritual workers Committed to GODS economy to see Profits Soar ie SOULS SAVED/ Ministries supported/ Glory to GOD --If we are doing less than the best we can then we are ROBBING GOD --It will effect the WHOLE church //Even the Pastor and the Preaching n you may think it a small thing IF you don't follow Thur n But it is a BIG thing with GOD n IT disappoints HIM: the Pastor too We must be the BEST WE CAN BE FOR THE MASTER SAKE~! Text; Col 3:22-4:1 Points 1. The slave 2. The master I. The Slave a) The workman is to OBEY vs 22 …" obey in all things your masters according to the flesh.." n In the work place there is NO instruction that is not to be obeyed - this of course does not mean he is to Obey any order that is CONTRAY to Gods Word or will - IT DOES MEAN that we are to DO what we are told, and PTL we have the privilege of having a job! - THE ATTIDUTE that we do our Job is of VITAL IMPORTANCE to the LORD · HE spells out serveral vital instuction to the WORK · Everyone is a work~ Everyone has a Boss /supervision/ Employer/ Church/Pastor 1. The Worker is not to work with eyeservice as a manpleaser - He is not to work only when the boss is standing around - He is WORK DILEGENTLY ALL THE TIME doing What he has been instructed and more What is expected of him and more What he should produce and more --We are never to be average/we should always strive to do the BEST ~ Going beyond the call of duty!! -Even if we don't agree with the BOSS!! -The only Scriptural reason for not obeying is that the command goes against GOD - There is not SCRIPTURAL JUSTIFICATION for being a SLOTHFUL WORKER! 2. The Worker is to work in singleness of heart vs. 22 --Singleness of Heart = Work with Purpose and FOCASED Attention -Work in sincerity and without pretense ,hypocrisy or slack - We are to be Committed to being the Best WORKER we can be // without fakiness or pretense - HE works to be the best because he is offering his labours to GOD - " For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit , which are Gods " 1 Cor. 6;20 3. The Worker is to work FEARING the LORD vs 22 -This should be the mark of EVERY CHRISTIAN in Every field of endeavor - It should be the Fear and Reverance to God that stands out to all those who are working around him - We will be judged for what and how we do our JOBS - We are to WORK knowing that GOD is WATCHING - We are to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for our OWN ACTIONS; GOD is holding you responsible! Will your work stand up at the JUDGEMENT BAR All excuses and justifications will be removed Did you work in the Fear of GOD or not? "But I keep my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I should be a castaway ( 1 Cor. 9:27 4. The Worker is to work heartly as unto the LORD --Heartily = out of the soul Our labours are to RISE UP out of our SOULS --We are not Working to please men but to PLEASE GOD! --The Lord Commands us to work DILLENGTLY This GIVES HIM GLORY b) Diligent work will be REWARDED by Jesus --On the earth workmen may be mistreated used abused cheated bypassed taken advantage of n The LORD KNOWS ALL ABOUT IT n He will REWARD the Diligent WORKER n We will receive; Robe/crown/ new body/ position/ bride/ authority / judgement of angels n The way you do your job is COUNTED for you WORK for Jesus and what you have done with HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS! --- Jesus says .." let your yeas be yeas and let your nays be nay..'' What you say you are going to do DO! IF your not going to do SAY SO This applys to you WORK ETHIC n You have to work Diligently / Jesus has given you the JOB now do it for HIS GLORY n Wither you Agree with the Boss or not! - Take responsibility for you own actions// your Justification for lack of Diligence will not stand in glory! -Do what you are told when you are told with GLORY in your HEART PRAISING GOD -You will be HAPPY and rewarded! II. THE MASTER a) The Employer is manager is to be just as EQUAL and fair with the employee - there is to be just and fair treatment in schedules work assignments production goals expectations demands promotions n The MANAGER is to Remember HE TO has a MASTER in HEAVEN n The manager is to work as hard as the employee because he to is an emplyee n He is to lead by example n He is to be self starter and go BEYOND the CALL OF DUTY b) The Manger is to expect 2 things out of HIMSELF and His charges LOYALITY and RESPECT! n The manager can discipline as needed but done CORRECTLY and JUSTLY in and thru the LOVE OF GOD n IF the employee is handled in a GODLY WAY then the Masters witness is Reinforced n The manager is not to levey THREATS or empty promises n God hold him responisble for HIS ACTIONS toward his employees n There is a higher Bar of Judgement for the Manager! III. Exciting time in the Life of the Church /Election of Officers A) Each officer and teacher are under the Authority of the Church and the Leadership of the Pastor B) Each Officer is to BE RESPONIBLE for HIS OWN ACTIONS n To do what he says he will do without a REMINDER from the Manager n He is to be Diligent / He is working for the LORD/ He will give and account GOOD or Bad for HIS WORK ETHIC n Do justify you why you cannt do what you said you you do JUST DO IT/ Let you Yeas be Yeas and Nay be NAY n we have a Governmental Struture that will MANAGE up to 300-500 In membership n The LORD will not BLESS us with MORE until we EFFECTIVELY MANGAGE what we HAVE NOW!!!! n This is up to EACH INDIVIAUAL member to DO what they know to be RIGHT! c) The Manger will do and lead I want this "Business" to be Profitable not Bankrupt for THE GLORY of GOD I Will never ask anyone to do what I have not done We must be Committed to the LORD and HE will REWARD us d) If you hold and office and didn't fullfill it REPENT IF you want an office be SURE you will fill it To the best of your ablity~ Keeping the lines of Communuication open So we can Be the BEST SEVANTS we can be for the MASTER callllllllllllll
