Review - Idle Hands

Idle Minds
I pity the pool soul who wrote Idle Hands. He, she, or they were very pathetic individuals who obviously had too much time on their hands and decided to write a movie. The problem was they didn't do a very good job of it. Not that "Idle Hands" didn't have ambition. It could have been a very funny spoof of horror films if they had stuck to the sort of stuff in the trailer. But no, it had to become a creep-out gore-fest about halfway though. That was a serious mistake. What was in the trailer was funny, and they had to go and ruin it. It's really a pity, because the movie had potential for some really great performances. Devon Sawa could have won the Oscar for Best Performance By a Limb, and Seth Green was so funny it almost hurt. Green could have saved the film singlehandedly if: one, the film wasn't beyond saving; and two, if he'd had something to work with in the first place. I'm glad that Green is about to redeem himself with Austin Powers 2 this summer. If I was an agent and I saw Idle Hands on his resume, I wouldn't hire him if my life depended on it. I guess some things are better off not mentioned. Grade - D-
