My human reaction? OMG!!!!!
K, so in order of events. Why was there barely any Zhaan in this ep? This is two in a row she like wasn't around, and they need to fix that.
Chia, on the other hand, I'm not sure about. In the one scene she was in, she annoyed me. And maybe she managed to pick up a brush on that commerce planet they were headed to. See, I have this thing when people brush their hair: I like when they do it.
And shipper scene #1. I seriously felt SO BAD for Aeryn. I mean, just look at her face when she tells John she's not going to go with him. And then he just up and leaves. Argh! I swear, men! On the other hand, I see fanfic fuel.
"Why did you land in Australia?" Because the show is filmed there maybe?
And John's obsession with who won the Super Bowl... Um, I don't even know who won. I just watch for the commercials.
One thing I noticed. When John's talking to his "father" or whatever on the beach, they show a fat guy in a speedo. Um, why? I really didn't need that image, thank you very much. I could have gone my whole life without seeing it. And considering I'm planning to never stop watching this episode till the last ten minutes or so, I'll be seeing it a lot.
And we got to hear everyone's language. You know, Claudia was right. At first I was kind of startled when I heard Aeryn talk, but after a while it started to sound really cool. If anyone decides to go as Aeryn for Halloween, make sure you get the language down.
They split Rygel open, and I was seriously about to cry. Which tells you how far I've come in liking this character, I was sorry when he died. But at least he didn't die. Plus for the episode.
And then comes The Kiss! First of all, I was screaming at the TV for going to commercial there. I mean, hello? At that commercial, my brother, who had been watching in his room (I tell you, Koren, he will get hooked) comes downstairs to see just how I reacted to it. How was I reacting? I was trying not to squeal with shipper joy because my father was just upstairs and I didn't want him to look at me weird when I explained what happened. I spent the whole episode screaming into a pillow.
And it all turned out that it never happened! I felt seriously stupid for a while while John's "dad"/alien guy was explaining it all. I was just sitting there like, "So the kiss never really happened?" And need I say anything about the end? There was so much that needed to be said and done and everything, and needs to be explored in fanfic. I just might write it.
So this is my basic feeling of the episode. It was absolutely perfect until the last ten minutes. And then I was confused. But I'm seeing a lot of potential here. For one, I'm right in thinking that everything before John left Moya was real, right? Meaning there's still Aeryn clearly being upset at his leaving. And then the rest is made up, but there was still that ::ahem:: dress, The Kiss, and just the way they reacted to each other the whole time. Maybe in next week's ep, they'll address some of it...
