Farscape One landed silently in a clearing on the silent, dead planet.  A planet that, once upon a time, he’d called "home."

Of course, that had been several years ago, when he’d still been relatively new to traveling the stars.  Before he’d become a renegade.  Before he’d met Aeryn.

As far as Pilot could tell, there had been some sort of plague that had wiped out all life on Earth, leaving it the dark, barren place it was now. John Crichton pulled himself out of Farscape One and surveyed his surroundings… surroundings that had once been populated by billions of people, including those he’d considered friends.

Much had changed since he’d been on Earth last, both in his life and on his home planet.  He’d met new species, cheated death time and again, gotten married… he’d started a new life among the stars.  But he’d never forgotten Earth, never stopped missing everything he was familiar with… even as the familiar became distant and the strange became ordinary.

He’d never truly let go of his wish to return to Earth once more, just to say good-bye.  One last talk with his Dad, one last basketball game with his best friend, one last cup of coffee.  Then, back to the life he’d become accustomed to; being chased by vengeance-seeking PeaceKeepers, learning the ropes on Moya, late-night talks with Aeryn… with his wife.

He had been surprised when she’d said yes to his proposal, to say the least. But it had been the best decision he’d ever made when he’d decided to get closer to Officer Aeryn Sun.  He had no regrets… except the fact that he hadn’t had a chance to say good-bye.

Now he had his chance, but it wasn’t quite the way he’d imagined it to be. No talks with his father or DK, no more coffee, no more pizza… no more anything.  It was over.

Sighing softly as he realized that he was, in fact, the last of his people, John Crichton made a vow to keep humanity alive in himselF, and in his newborn daughter, in any way possible.  Taking one last glance around, Crichton climbed back into Farscape One and set it back towards Moya. "Good-bye," he said softly, lifting Farscape One off the ground and into the stars  It was time to go back to his life… Back to his home.
