Description: Useless short, fluff piece that accomplishes nothing.
Spoilers: None. Takes place sometime shortly after "I, ET".
Synopsis: Plot? You want a plot? OK, OK. John and Aeryn before and after they
go exploring Moya.
Disclaimers: All Farscape names, characters and other related indicia are the
property of Jim Henson Productions, Hallmark Entertainment, Nine Networks,
the Scifi Channel and all associated parties. No copyright infringement is
intended.
Note: A very early piece I wrote for Farscape. The fact is it's my second
piece of fanfic I ever wrote for the series and decided to get it off my
system and unleash it upon you unwitting vic...er um...scapers. :) Keep in
mind while reading that John and Aeryn don't exactly have the warm, cuddly
fuzzies for each other at this point in the series. :)

"Yeah! This is gonna be great. You ready to go, Kemosabe?"
"Kemo...?" Aeryn wondered aloud, noting neither Zhaan nor D'argo seemed to
have a clue what the human called John Crichton had just said.
"Never mind." John chirped, far to enthusiastic about the undertaking they
were about to endure to care if the others understood him or not. He was busy
looking over a sketch he had made of their intended route through Moya's
decks.
Aeryn sighed in resignation. She had no desire to spend time with this
primitive but an agreement was an agreement. She had lost the wager with
Crichton and now had to face the consequences. Certainly it would be a good
reminder to herself never to think of the lower life forms as equals, even if
they did look like her own kind.
"Are you ready to go? The sooner we get started the better." Aeryn asked
irritably.
John paused for a moment, looking up from the small scrap of material he
held, with a poorly concealed hurt expression. "Look, if you don't want to
come along you don't have to."
"I lost my wager with you and intend to fulfill my part." Aeryn bristled;
though even she wasn't sure whether from his offer to release her from their
agreement or from her own sudden rush of sympathy at the look she'd seen on
his face.
"OK. Whatever you say." John picked up his jacket and shrugged it on. He
raised an eyebrow as she hefted her rifle. "You're bringing that along?"
"Someone has to keep you from getting yourself killed." She deadpanned back.
He rolled his eyes and turned to leave; shaking his head but not before she
and the others caught the small smile that crossed his face. "Great, I wind
up God knows where in the galaxy and get stuck with Sara Connor."
"Sara Connor?" Aeryn asked following him out of the room.
"Uh, yeah. Y'know, Terminator. Terminator 2: Judgment Day. She helps save the
world from machines trying to wipe out humanity."
"A warrior." Aeryn concluded. "I thank you for the compliment."
"Uh....yeah."
"Perhaps we should have one of the DRDs observe them." D'argo suggested as
the pair left the chamber.
"Aeryn will keep John out of trouble." Zhaan replied with an amused smile as
she watched the pair walk down the corridor.
"I was thinking more in case we need to find Crichton's body when Aeryn tires
of his incessant babbling."
Zhaan looked concerned at that. "Hmm. Perhaps you are right."

Several hours later.
"Ah. We were starting to wonder about you two." Zhaan said, noting the dour
expressions on both of their faces.
"Speak for yourself." D'argo muttered.
Aeryn sighed as she grabbed a plate of brown foodcubes. Sitting down at the
table next to D'argo she shook her head as Rygel ate without any apparent
interest. John rummaged through the small bag he carried at another nearby
table.
"Well, how did your search fair?" The little alien finally asked.
"It went great."
"It was a waste of time."
"It seems you two are in disagreement." Rygel noted while Zhaan and D'argo
exchanged amused looks.
"It was interesting if you are a primitive life form." Aeryn said. "All we
found was scrap materials and discarded repair equipment. All of it
completely useless."
John humphed at her description as he spread out a handful of small
multi-colored cubes and strips of material he had yet to identify. "Yeah,
well it may be nothing to you, but it's new to me."
"A few colorful cubes and shiny metal objects and you're completely
fascinated. You really are a from primitive species." Aeryn snapped, earning
a look of disapproval from Zhaan. D'argo smiled slightly, attempting to hide
his amused look while Rygel guffawed, not even bothering to hide his
amusement.
John quickly swept the pieces back into the small bag and headed towards the
exit. Once there he paused for a moment. "We're making a bartering stop
tomorrow right?" He asked, stiffly refusing to face them.
"Yes. Why? I doubt any one will be interested in bartering for those useless
bits." Aeryn replied with a mixture of curiosity and disdain. He merely
nodded once at her answer and left.
"That was very cruel, Aeryn." Zhaan said reprovingly.
Aeryn inexplicably felt guilty at the look she received. "It's true." She
replied defensively.
"And how is he supposed to learn to survive amongst us if we discourage him?"
Zhaan asked.
Aeryn looked down, finding she had no answer for the Delvian and wondering
why that fact bothered her.
