One last Wish: [Chapter 12]
One Last Wish: Chapter 12
Hope clung onto Justin for dear life. She was so relieved and so happy to be able to just let go in front of him. Justin of course was surprised at her reaction, but satisfied all in the same.
Justin pulled Hope away from him and looked her over. She was pale and had tears rolling down her cheeks. She looked like the walking dead, of course he didn’t and wouldn’t dare say a thing like that being the way things were. “Hey you, what’s the matter?”
Hope looked down at her hands as she hurriedly wiped the tears off her face. She slowly lifted her head to look at Justin and whimpered, “I need to get away from here Justin. Please…just take me away.”
Justin looked her over once more and tried to understand her comment. It was so mysterious and so pleading that Justin couldn’t read into her like he usually did. “Sweetie, just tell me what’s wrong first.”
Hope stared up at him through watery eyes and finally broke down. “I need to get away from this house. From my parents, from everything. I want to go somewhere far from everything. Away from this reality. Please help me…Justin?” Hope barely got out in between sobs.
Justin looked at her tear-stained face and looked over to her front door, then to his car. He tried to decipher why he was about to do what he was going to, but no logical explanation could come to his mind. “Alright, of course I’ll help you sunshine. Just hold on for a sec.” Justin ran into the house and noticed that the first floor was completely empty, meaning that Hope’s parents were probably upstairs. He took a piece of paper from the coffee table and took out his pen and wrote a note to Hope’s parents:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Evans,
I took Hope to the beach.
Signed,
Justin

Justin quickly placed the note on the fireplace mantel and ran back out into the front yard. Hope had been sitting on the front door steps waiting for Justin. Justin let his hand out to her and smiled, “c’mon sweetheart.”
Hope placed her hand in his and got up off the step. She hadn’t gained much of her balance before she got up and it made her fall quickly, but Justin was fast to react and grabbed her before she could hit the ground. The two stood there in a compromising position for a minute or two before they got up and walked hand in hand to Justin’s car.
“So where do you wanna go sweetheart?” Justin asked nicely.
“Anywhere without doctors, parents, or ANYTHING depressing,” Hope paused and took a deep breath, “I just want to relax for once.”
Justin nodded his head and looked over to her while she sat quietly next to him in the passenger seat. He slowly slid his hand onto the palm of hers and gently smiled at her when she looked up. Hope weakly grinned back and caressed his hand with her own. After a couple minutes, Justin slowly took his hand from hers and started the car.
Justin drove down the busy interstate while Hope just quietly stared blankly at the outside world. Justin was in awe of how such a wonderful person like Hope could be so mesmerized by the things other people took for granted.
Justin turned to look at her and smiled. Hope could feel his penetrating stare on her so she slowly turned to look at him looking at her. Usually Hope would probably turned into a red cherry, but this time she was too upset to let anything matter to her.
“Hope are you alright?” Justin asked worriedly.
Hope smiled a fake smile not to concern him, but she knew that he hadn’t bought it so she just went back to her depressing frown. “I’ll be fine,” Hope tried convincing Justin but knew she couldn’t, “look Justin, I don’t want you worrying about me. I know you have better things to do.”
Justin quickly came into an empty parking lot and parked the car. He jerked his hands off the wheel and turned to look at Hope once again. “Why would you think like that? Hope you know I worry about you cause I care about you.”
Hope turned away to hide the tears that began to form out of the corners of her eyes. Justin slowly put his finger underneath her chin and turned her head to face him. He slowly and gently brushed the single tear that had fallen onto her cheek.
Hope took a deep breath as she tried to stop crying. She couldn’t help but breakdown and she was glad that Justin was there to comfort her. Hope snuggled into Justin’s embrace as she tried to speak.
Hope’s face was so dug into Justin’s that when her voice was so muffled, “why can’t my mom just accept that this my future is to be buried six feet underground."
Justin gently pulled her away from his hold and looked straight into her eyes. “Listen to me, I don’t want you to EVER talk like that again? Hope, you never know what will happen. So don’t ever loose hope. Have a little faith,” Justin diplomatically said to her.
“I don’t want to give up Justin, really I don’t, but when all I ever hear about is this drug and that operation, two more months, or two more days I can’t help but loose hope.” She answered as she tried to calm herself down.
Justin let out a quiet sigh and positioned her back into her own seat before getting out of the car. Before going around to the passenger side, Justin looked at Hope through the rear window. She looked so frail, so sad. He wanted more than anything to make her feel better. Justin let out a bigger sigh this time and finally walked over to her door and helped her out of the car.
Once she was out of the car, Hope looked at her surroundings and was utterly bewildered. There she stood in the empty parking lot of the local beach with the one person she trusted the most. Clouds were starting to settle in the sky above them as they slowly made their way down towards the empty sandy beach.
“Justin why exactly have we come here?” Hope asked once they got down towards the crashing waves.
“Well, you said you wanted to go somewhere where you could be away from reality. So I thought of this place. Is it okay?” Justin asked worriedly.
Hope looked around at the white sandy beach, empty lifeguard tower, wet mud, hungry seagulls, and closed her eyes to listen to the waves crashing against each other as they rushed over the rocks. She opened her eyes as for once, smiled up at Justin who stood in front of her, “it’s perfect.”
Justin chuckled a bit before hugging her close to him. He dip his head down towards her ear and gently whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Hope jerked her head away from him in confusion, “sorry for what, Justin?”
Justin smiled sinisterly, “for this.” Justin quickly picked Hope up off her feet until her upper torso hung loosely over his back. Justin ran with her towards the waves and jokingly threw her in.
Once she resurfaced, Hope coughed out water like she had been choking on it,. She signaled to Justin that she was in trouble and Justin quickly swam to her. Before he knew it, Hope had stopped coughing and jumped on his back to sink him into the water. The two wrestled vigorously in the ocean blue seawater. Both trying to under mind the other and lure them into the water. They were having fun, just enjoying each other’s company, in the Atlantic Ocean, in their clothes, in the rain.
almost an hour had passed until the two had gotten out of the water. The two of them were soaked and drenched straight through their clothes as they took an extra effort to walk out onto the muddy sand.
Hope playfully squished her feet in the mud and turned to Justin who had taken off his wet shirt was walking behind her, “I love the feel of wet mud on your feet, feels all tingly,” Hope bent down to let take some mud into her hand, “and on the rest of your body,” Hope then walked over to Justin and put all the mud in her hand onto Justin bare chest, “don’t ya think?”
Justin looked down at her hand as she rubbed the mud all over him like it was lotion. Justin took her hand off his chest and slowly wiped it off with his own hands. Hope—still laughing—slowly backed away when Justin had bent down to grab his own share of the wet mud. He caught her arm before she could get away and rubbed all the mud in her face as she turned around, “never think that you can get away with joking on me,” Justin playfully added.
Hope wiped all the goey mud off her face and replied, “oh you are SO dead Timberlake!” Hope took more mud into her hands as she ran after Justin. The two ran playfully away from each other as their feet graced the tips of the rolling waves and the clouds gently poured drops of rain.
The two had been having so much fun they had never noticed the people standing behind them. Justin had started to chase Hope in the opposite direction but immediately stopped when he noticed the couple. Hope kept running, not looking in front of her, “what’s the matter, don’t think you could…” Hope slammed into something in front of her and slowly looked up, “DAD? MOM?”
There they stood in front of her, not too happy of what they were a witness to. Hope slowly backed off as Justin walked up behind her trying to put his mangled shirt back on.
“What are you guys doing here?” Hope asked surprised.
Hope’s father pulled her next to her mother and handed her mother the keys and signaled them to leave. Hope walked off with her mother bickering while her father stood there in front of Justin with his arms crossed, “you know Justin, I trusted you with my daughter, and you hurt her once, you could have gotten her sick today!”
“Mr. Evans I didn’t mean to..” Justin was once again cut off.
“I don’t want to hear it, you listen to me Mr. Hot shot, you go right ahead back to your superstar life style and Hope we’ll be fine without you. So there’s no need for you to come see her anymore. You stay away from her you hear me?”
Hope’s father gave Justin one last evil look before stomping off into the parking lot. Justin stood in the same very spot he had been and watched as Hope looked down at Justin from the car as it pulled out of the parking lot. Slowly, the car drove farther away from Justin’s sight, and so did one of the most important person in his life.
