Dinner Guests at Djuma Bush Lodge

No not another storey about pippa, but rather some animal guests who joined us at the Bush Lodge for meals. We had guests of all shapes and sizes, some just behind our boma, on Africam's Djuma camera, and some right in camp with us. The most seen pest in camp are the vervet monkeys. They are very bold and come running by the troup, to share breakfast with us. They wait for the 5 seconds that the buffet is left unattended and strike. One fancies fruit, running off with some fresh pineapple, and a banana. Another grabs some toast. Djumas stafff does there best to scare them off, but their efforts are fruitless(unlike the vevets LOL). The boldest of the bunch sits down and dips its hand into the juice pitcher sipping mango juice from it! As cute as it is, it is annoying!! Yellow and red billed hornbills snatch snacks also. They are less successful but that doesnt stop them from trying. The real animal guests that cause a thrill are the ones out around the camera! In one 5 day stretch, 4 nights we had a hippo join us, right at supper time. It waddled around feeding out near the camera, standing in the lights as if to show her amazing size to us all. As if good friends and dinner conversation arent enough! The 5th nite we see a hyena getting very close, but not for long. It goes away after figuring out we are not leaving anytime soon. The most active guest was a big ellie, who had been crashing around near camp all day. After having some snacks on a few tree, it decided to knock over a tree for us. Fortunatly it wasnt the tree that housed the camera! To say the least meals at the Bush Lodge at Djuma were always great fun, and the floor show wasnt bad either!Frank's Place Main or More Adventures
