I would like to give each
person a heads up on our financial status.
First the good news: we are operating in the black. The PDC netted over $900 for our
accounts. Now the less than good
news: we make 5 cents for each meal served at the Chapter meetings (profit
after paying for speaker’s meal and tip).
Unfortunately, our break-even point is having fifteen members at each
meeting and lately we have not achieved that. What does that mean for the
Chapter? We need to do one of two
things or both. They are; 1) Find a
new place to meet and eat for around $15 -$16 person, 2) increase the cost
per meal members pay (or keep member prices same, increase non-member cost),
or 3) find a less expensive meeting place and
raise the cost per member. Currently we charge $19 person
for the meals at the meetings. This
is the least expensive rate of all the Chapters in the Southern California
area. The going rate is between $20 -
$22. Members have complained that
they do not want to pay that much for a meal, but please remember that part
of that cost comes back to the Chapter to support member services. If you
know of a location where we can meet, preferably with a separate meeting
room, good food, reasonable prices, and a location near freeway access, let
us know. We want to serve you the
member, and make meetings enjoyable while enhancing our budget to provide
other services. Thanks. |
