"PROMINENT LOWELL BUSINESS MAN DIES"

George R. Myers Conducted Market in Merrimack Square Many Years

George R. Myers, a well known business man
of this city for many years, died at his home,
43 Livingston Avenue, yesterday afternoon after a long illness.
He came to this city from Boylston, N. S.
When he was 18 years of age, he was married.
Five years later he entered business for himself
and operated a market in Merrimack Square for 27 years.
He retired and later engaged in business again
when he purchased the Bryant Carriage and Blacksmith shop in West Third Street,
which is still doing business as the G. R. Myers Co.
In 1931 he re-married, taking Miss Bertha Phinney for his wife,
who survives him. He was a member of
the Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of
the old Paige Street Baptist Church. Besides his wife
he leaves one sister, Miss Sadie Myers of Sidney, N. S.
and several nieces and nephews."
