ROBERT HENRY SMITH - New Glasgow -
Robert Henry Smith, age 81,
of 370 Tremont St., New Glasgow,
died Mon., Feb.19,2001, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Goldboro, Guys. Co., he was the son of
the late John Hugh and Ethel(Clyburn) Smith.
He worked at Standard Clay and retired from
Hawker Siddeley Ltd. He was a member of
St.George's Anglican Church and was a veteran of
World War 11 and served overseas with the West Novies.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch 34, New Glasgow. Surviving are his wife Mary;
daughter Theresa (Fred) Reid, Trenton; sons, Robert(Charlene),
New Glasgow; Allan(Helen), Stellarton; eight grandchildren
and six great grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Kitchener) Crooks,
Goshen; Janet(Tom) MacKay, Plymouth; brothers,
William and Ace, both of Priestville.
He was predeceased by sisters, Jessie and Christina Ormrod
and brothers, Laurie and Edward.
Visitation today 7-9pm and 2-4 and 7-9pm Wed.,
in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Funeral service at 11am, Thurs. in St.George's Anglican Church,
with Rev. Jack Wainwright officiating. Burial in
Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only.
Donations may be made to St.George's
Anglican Church General Fund. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34
will meet at the funeral home at 6:30pm,
Wednesday to hold their service.
