Margaret Merrill

SHERBROOKE - The death ocurred at Montreal
on May 29, of Mrs. E.P. Merrill, age 59 years.
Born at Wine Harbor, Guysboro Co., Mrs. Merrill was the former
Margaret Irwan, daughter of the late George Byron Irwan
and his late wife Nancy Ann MacCutcheon. Mrs. Merrill's funeral
was held on June 1st at 2 p.m. from the home of her uncle,
Murdoch L. McCutcheon, Sonora. A wide circle of friends
from Wine Harbor, Sherbrooke, New Glasgow
and Sydney paid tribute to a beloved friend.
Left to mourn the loss of a loving mother and sister
is her son by a former marriage, Major Harvey MacLeod,
Calgary, Alberta; two brothers, Dr. Lyall Irwan,
New York City; James Irwan, Cobalt, Ontario;
three sisters, Blanche (Mrs. H.S. Rood); Alice (Mrs. L.B. Wilson)
both residing at New Liseard, Ontario; and Annie, (Mrs. Robert Mac Quarrie)
Edmonton, Alberta. Four grandchildren also survive.
The service was conducted by D. Leslie Elder, Presbyterian Minister,
Sherbrooke. The Sherbrooke Choir was in attendance and favorite hymns
of the deceased were sung. "The Lord's My Shepherd," "Asleep in Jesus",
and "The Beautiful Land". The floral tributes were many and beautiful.

Interment was in the family lot at Cherry Hill, Port Hilford.

Just one week previous to Mrs. Merrill's death,
her brother, Byron Irwan passed away
at Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax. He was buried in Camp Hill Cemetery.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family and relatives.
