Oldest resident of Port Bickerton dies

Lorne Everson Horton - 99,
of Port Bickerton, died Monday in the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Port Bickerton, he was a son of
the late Edward and Mary Ann (Kaiser) Horton.
He was a member of Port Bickerton United Baptist Church,
having served as deacon since 1921.
A lifelong resident of Port Bickerton,
he was a retired commercial fisherman.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Myrtle Kaiser; a son Clyde;
a daughter Catherine and a sister Etta May
(Mrs. Arthur Kaiser), all of Port Bickerton;
14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren;
seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Clarice (Mrs. Irvin Kaiser);
six brothers; Milton, Seward, Amos, Garfield,
Ethelbert, and Edward; two sisters;
Hattie O'Hara and Beatrice Newcombe. The body is in
Port Bickerton United Baptist Church, with visiting 2-4,
7-9 today and where funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Rev. Barry Dixon officiating. Burial will be
in Hillside Cemetery, Port Bickerton. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the Hillside Cemetery Fund.
