Stanley Reid

Reid, Stanley - 96,
Port Hilford, Guysborough Co.,
died Saturday, April 22, 2000,
in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
Born in Port Hilford, he was a son of the late David and Minnie (McConnell) Reid.
He was a member of Port Hilford United Baptist Church,
where he also served as secretary. He was a past member
of the Canadian Good Roads Association, which is now known
as the Canadian Road Builders Association. While a member,
he was active in Marine and Highway Construction under the name
of Stanley Reid Construction. He was a silver fox breeder
and sheep rancher. He was also a life long member of
the Nova Scotia Liberal Association.
Surviving are sons, Robert (Elizabeth), Freeman (Sharon), Port Hilford;
Lloyd (Ruth), Dartmouth; Graham (Ruth), Pugwash;
daughter, Mary Ann Kaizer (Clifford), Port Bickerton; son-in-law, Corbett Field, Amherst,
12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Margaret Cameron;
daughter Florence Verna Field; brothers, Percy, David;
sisters, Eva, Anne, Verena. Visitation will be from
2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral Tuesday 2 p.m. both
in Port Hilford United Baptist Church, Rev. Morley Shaw officiating,
assisted by Brian Barron. Burial will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery,
Port Hilford. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made
to the Port Hilford United Baptist Church Fund.
Arrangements are entrusted to G.W. Giffen Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
