Edward Raymond Hartling

Hartling, Edward Raymond (Ed) – 80, Liscomb, Guysborough County, died March 4, 1994, in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Spanish Ship Bay, Guysborough County, he was a son of the late Frederick and Sadie (Douglas) Hartling. He was employed by Irving Oil Limited for 46 years prior to his retirements. He was a life member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Liscomb; 55-year member of Queens Masonic Lodge 34, Sherbrooke; 48 year member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 86, Liscomb; member of St. Mary’s Hospital Board for 36 years and St. Mary’s Fish and Game Association for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen M. Anderson; son, John Alexander; daughter-in-law, Judith; three granddaughters, Rhonda, Lisa, Jennifer, all of Chester; mother-in-law, Mrs. Emma A. Anderson, Sherbrooke; eight sisters, Janette Claridge, Washington; Hazel Tupper, Nancy (Mrs. Don MacDonald), both of New Glasgow; Marjorie MacLaughlin, Halifax; Ruth Vreen, Spanish Ship Bay; Albertha Hartling, Vivian (Mrs. Alex Davidson), Phyllis (Mrs. Everett MacPhail), all of Toronto; two brothers, James, Timmins, Ont; Roy, Halifax. He was predeceased by two sisters, Coral, Irene; three brothers in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive relatives and friends 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Ecum Secum Funeral Home, Sherbrooke, where a legion and masonic service will be 8 p.m. Sunday. A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Family flowers only Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital or St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
