Ronald A.V. Newcombe

NEWCOMBE, Ronald A.V., -- 72, of Port Bickerton, Guysborough County,
died Thursday in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, Guysborough County.
Born in Murphy's Cove, Halifax County,
he was the son of the late John and Beatrice (Horton) Newcombe.
He spent most of his working life as an engineer. He was also involved in the fishing industry and was a sawyer in his youth.
He served in the overseas with armed forces during the Second World War,
and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 56, Sherbrooke.
He is survived by his wife the former Thelma Leona Horton;
two sons, Kenneth, Dartmouth;
Victor, Coldbrook, Kings County;
two daughters, Thelma (Mrs. Robert McCoombs) Eastern Passage;
Lillian (Mrs. Emery Smith) Port Bickerton;
a brother Wendell, Halifax;
two sisters, Cynthia Tracey, Dartmouth;
Adrinnea (Mrs. Everett Elsan) South Branch;
a step-brother, Leo Boutilier, New Brunswick;
10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, John Garfield;
four brothers, Owen, Olaf, Harvey, Francis;
two sisters, Mildred, Madonna.
The body is in The Calvary Faith Church, Port Bickerton, where funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m.
Rev. Jeff Reason officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Port Bickerton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's hospital fund or the Canadian Cancer Society
