Sarabelle St. Clair Wilson (nee Mason)

WILSON (Mason), Sarabelle St. Clair - 66, Cross Roads, Country Harbour, Guysborough Co.,
died December 30, 1996, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital.
Born in Cross Roads Country Harbour,
she was daughter of the late Archibald and Mabel (Irving) Mason.
She was a teacher for 29 years in Guysborough County District School Board system and
was instrumental in setting up Country Harbour Private School, She was an active member of Zion United Church, Country Harbour,
where she taught Sunday school, led the youth group, acted as treasurer and sat on various committees.
She worked to preserve local history and folklore through her various articles in The Chronicle Herald, The Guysborough Gazette and most recently, The Guysborough Journal,
for which she wrote on a regular basis,
she was also an author and recently published a collection of articles and short stories.
With the help of others in the community, she worked to establish a war memorial and a reconstruction of the first landing of the United Empire Loyalists.
She was a member of the New Democratic Party, having run for MLA for Guysborough County.
She received numerous awards and certificates for her outstanding service to the community.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur;
daughters, Cathy (Mrs. Bob MacKinnon) Ashdale;
Jane, (Mrs. Evereet Dort) Cross Roads Country Harbour;
sons, John, Glen Road, Antigonish Co.;
Garth at home;
sisters, Jessie (Mrs. Sandy MacHattie) Loch Katrine;
Mabel Jane Naugler, Bridgewater;
five grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, both in Zion United Church, Country Harbour,
Lewis MacIntosh officiating, Barbara Wilkins assisting.
Burial in Hillside Cemetery.
Donations to Zion United Church.
Arrangements entrusted to G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
