Dear sisters and brothers in TGSF,

I am today announcing my candidacy for the office of Treasurer for the coming term. During the past years that I have belonged to the organization I have greatly benefited from the support that I have received, and have met so many wonderful people as well.

It is time for me to begin paying back the organization, and to allow some of you who have worked so hard over the past years to take a bit of a break. I feel that I am qualified for this position and for membership on the Executive Committee for the following reasons:

• I have previously served as treasurer of the computer organization where I attended the university
• I have a laptop computer, and regularly use such programs as Quicken and the Microsoft Works spreadsheet program
• I am online on the Internet, and frequently in the Chat Rooms and other areas of Transgendered Forum, and have email access at: janisr@hisnhers.com I also have experience building web sites
• I have experience with mailing, legal filings, and related things through my work as a legal assistant for a group of attorneys

Last February I took the big step, and walked into the Cafe Mars, not knowing anyone there or what to expect. I was warmly greeted by many people, including President Lesley and Miss ETVC 1998 Dianna. I hope that they realize how important that was to me. I have also had the opportunity to travel to Reno and Seattle, and have met many members of the transgendered and gay communities there as well.

During the past year, I have found myself in the position of meeting and greeting people on their first outings, both in person and on the Internet. I find that from my recent personal experiences I am able to relate to them and to help them take that first step as well. I have ideas for improving our group's web site, and for getting information to potential new members in a timely fashion. I look forward to working with the Executive Committee to implement these ideas.
