~*~* 1987 Edgewater Snr high 9th grade. Lunch June~*~*~
"God i can't wait till school is over right Howie!" I heard my friend
vanessa say to me as I was in another world thinking about my exams.
"Huh...Oh yeah! No more school!"
"Howie what's wrong?"
"Nothing V! Just thinking!" I said, adjustintg my glasses and continued
studing for my science exam for next week. I already studied for algebra
and it was easy.
"Howie, do you ever think I'll find someone for me?
"Of course you will! Why do you say that?"
"Because, look at me! 'm ugly, skinny, I have braces, what else do
I need?"
"V, you are not ugly you are smart, nice, caring, a good actress, and
you sing really well!"
"Yeah Ok Howie!" I noticed her sarcastic tone.
"Trust me, you are!"
The bell rang and as soon as we finished throwing away our lunch and
headed torward's our english class
"Okay class, today we are going to watch Romeo and Juliet." (A:N. THE
ROMEO AND JULIET MOVIE IS THE OLD VERSION)

"Good lord! Third period was a hard test. I now know why I hate government!"
"Yeah." I sighed.
"Hey, what's wrong buddy?"
"Nothing V."
"Howie, I've known you since we had diaper rash and I know when you're
lying to me!"
"Jennifer broke up with me. There, I said it. Are you happy??!!!"
"DON"T YELL AT ME!"
"WELL WHY ARE YOU!"
"Because I don't know what you saw in her! She's a plastic cheerleading
whore.. hell she has more plastic than a barbie doll!!!"
At that I just had to laugh. Vanessa was right. What did I see in her?
I never knew Vanessa was a strong person. I guess it's because she's so
quiet sometimes. Vanessa and I both graduated two week's after school ended
and we both thought we would have a great summer until one dark night....
Vanessa and I were watching our usual dracula movie marathon when the
phone rang.
"Hello?" I heard her say. The next thing I knew, she had thrown the
phone against the wall.
"V, what happened?"
"Howie.. it was the police they called... and told me my parent's...."
"You're parents are what, V?"
"MY PARENT'S ARE DEAD HOWIE! THEY DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT!!!"
At that point, I hugged her and told her everything was going to be
alright but what I didn't know was that I wasn't going to be there for
her the whole time.
