Story 4: The Scrolls

Peace looked at the scrolls for guidance. She opened one that looked different from the rest. She opened it and read it to herself.

"The war has is over, it has ended, but this world can't be mended. Now that you have defeated your fo, from Albia you must go. So for you here is a tip: Build yourself a spaceship. With it, you must go far and into the many stars."

"The rest of this is missing!" She said angrily. Love looked over at her and smiled.

"Earth to Peace! You're supposed to be looking for a scroll to help us!" He told her.

"Sorry, Love," she said and continued looking. "Here's one!"

"Though you numbers are small and must grow, your strength is beginning to show. While some creatures fight and die, others must breed and cry."

"I don't like that!" Hope said with fear.

"You're not the only one, Hope," said Love. His voice didn't shake, but his eyes were wide and he was tense. No one in that room seemed calm.

"Is there anything else that can help us, Peace?" Mouse asked.

"Peace, you stopped looking!" He said. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing!" She said and went back to work. Some of the other female grendels and the male norns had become attracted to each other. The grendel had a lot of females, but no males and it was the opposite for the norns. Love noticed this too.

"Is that what the scroll meant? That more norns helps our chances?" He asked.

"I don't know!" She answered. Her eyes were wide with anticipation. She loved this norn. His intelligence masked by his loving spirit. He came over and kissed her on the cheek. He loved her too. He happiness and optimism that was added with her beauty. They left to go talk for a few moments.

Hope, on the other hand, was playing some sort of game with one of the grendels only males. She would race around and then he would. Intelly was watching them from a distance. He was working on something or another as he watched. Hope noticed it and ran over to him. "What's that, Intelly?"

"It's going to be a machine that can tell if the females are going to have a baby," he told her and Hope looked amused.

"Can we watch?" She asked and her grendel friend nodded with excitement.

"Very well," was his reply. He continued to work and it wasn't long before he was finished. Peace had heard what he was doing and came over.

"I think I'm pregnant," she told him and he checked.

"You are. Most of the females here are," he told her. Peace laughed.

"Well, we are going to have a lot of help when the children get older," she told him and he nodded.

"Now what are we going to do?" Love asked. Peace turned to him and sighed.

"Intelly, can you build a bomb and other explosives?" She asked. He nodded and turned to her.

"Why?" He asked.

"I want you to teach the female norns and grendels how to make them," she said. He nodded and all of the females began to learn.

The others knew how to use them, so they took the explosives to battle. They were able to destroy some of the evil norns. They all had to fight hand to hand combat though. Intelly soon became bored with nothing to do. Peace gave him the assignment of creating a spaceship. She had had her first egg and was pregnant with another.

"Peace!" Love yelled as he came back in. He kissed her lovingly.

"It's about to hatch, Love!" She told him and they watched in wonder. It took a minute of pushing against the shell, before a beautiful little norn came out.

"Mama?" The little norn asked Peace and she was amazed.

"She shouldn't be so smart!" Peace exclaimed and Love nodded. Their daughter raised her hands, wanting to be picked up.

"Up?" She asked and Peace picked her up.

"What are we going to call her, Love?" Peace asked and Love shrugged.

"I don't know. How about Tranquility?" He asked and she nodded.

"I like that," was her reaction. He turned to his newborn daughter and kissed her forehead.

"Love! We have to go now!" Kahless yelled and he nodded for Love.

"I'll be back!" He promised.

"You have better!" She whispered and she kissed his cheek. He then proceeded to go off to fight. Whether he would come back or not was a mystery to them.
