Story 7: Birth of A Special Norn
Peace watched Intelly drive the ship. "Are you sure you know what you are doing?"
"Peace, relax! I built this ship! I know what I am doing!" He said happily and then he lowered his voice to mutter only he could hear. "Where we are going is another story!"
"Huh?" She asked.
"Nothing!" He answered. "Rolick, I could use your help here. You should be resting, Peace."
"But..." she started.
"Go rest. We'll be fine," he said and Peace sighed.
"Oh, alright!" She sighed, but she did give in. The felt her stomach hurt and sat down.
"Peace?" Intelly asked with fear. His look matched hers.
"Something's wrong. I'm going to have to have this baby now!" She said and gasped again.
"Okay, umm, you're doing great!" Intelly tried and Peace looked at him funny.
"Go get Love," she said to Rolick.
"What do you want me to do?" Intelly asked.
"Drive the ship would be nice," she said.
"What about you?"
"I'm not go to be okay anyway if we crash."
Love finally came running in. "I'll take it from here, Intelly. Thanks! It has never hurt this much before!"
"Tell me about it!" She said and moaned. She gripped Love's hand.
"Peace, that hurts!" He whined.
"And it is not hurting me?" She growled. She gripped even harder and finally layed the egg. "That's better."
"I'm not so sure," he said and held his hand. She ignored him and looked at the eggs. It grew suddenly before her eyes.
"Love, it's growing really fast!" She muttered and he nodded. It grew faster and faster.
"Peace, what is wrong with our child?" He asked.
"Maybe, it has something to do with the hand? I don't think that it will die when it comes out, do you?" Peace said and she looked worried.
"No, I don't," he said.
"Good," was her response. She lay down beside it. She saw it grow again and finally it was ready to hatch. "Intelly! It's going to hatch!"
"Already? Are you sure?" He asked.
"Of course I am sure!" She answered and her friend ran over. It took a moment for the egg to hatch, but the three norns watched patiently. Finally, it popped it's head out.
"Mraaa!" The baby said. The others looked in wonder. Peace figured she knew what it wanted.
"Mama!" She said.
"Mama," it answered. She understood that was what Peace was. She turned to Love and smiled.
"Papa!" He told her.
"Papa," she answered and smiled. She crawled over to them and motioned to be picked up. Peace looked at her for and moment and sighed.
"Okay, come here!" Peace said and scooped her up. Then she turned to Love. "She needs a name."
"I say we called her Catalina, after the hand!" Love said.
"She needs a name that sounds intelligent!" Intelly said. "Maybe Annie."
"No! I want to call her Jenny!" Peace said. "How about we combine them?"
"How?" Intelly asked.
"Well, I don't know. How about Catalanna?" She asked and the others nodded.
"Sounds good!" Love said and turned to his daughter. "What do you think?"
"Catalanna me! Me Catalanna!" She screeched with happiness. Her parents smiled. Perhaps, their ride to their new home wouldn't be as dull as the norns had once thought.
