BossesThis is the page where I tell you the best ways to defeat each of the Area Bosses in Blaster Master.
Area 1: Jellyfish Thing--- As soon as you enter the room, run to the upper left, but not all the way. Face right, and as soon as the boss appears, pummel it with grenades as fast as you can. When it gets to close for comfort, run around it, then turn and keep blasting it. It's quite easy to defeat this boss without getting hit.
Area 2: Evil Mutant Crab---Easy way: As soon as possible, hit boss with a grenade and pause the game. Damage will continue to run up on the boss. After a few minutes, un-pause the game and the boss should be defeated... OR Honest way:If gun is powered up, stand back and start shooting. Any rounds that hit the bubbles will destroy them, and a few rounds should get through to cause damage. If you're feeling lucky, run up and throw some grenades into the creature's mouth, then run back before the arms get you.
Area 3: Robot Squares--- This boss has a pattern. From it's starting point, it will materialize across the top row, then in a zig-zag pattern along each side of the room. With a Level 8 or 7 gun, just run and shoot; with grenades, get real close, and hope you can fire enough off before you get wasted.
Area 4: Giant Sewer Frog--- This boss also has a pattern. It will leap 3 times, then shoot it's tongue. Another 2 leaps, then spit a group of bubbles. Then another 3 leaps, and a fireball. Stand by the side and fire grenades into it's mouth whenever it does a tongue or bubble attack. During the fireball attack, keep moving, because the fireball will come straight at wherever you are standing. The pausing trick which can be used on the Level 2 boss can also be used here.
Area 5: Super Crab with Bad Gas--- This boss is tough if you don't have a good gun with you. Without a fully-charged gun, the trick is to keep moving and pray you can get a shot or two in. I highly recommend a fully-charged gun, because with it, you can stand back and fire in a wave which will destroy any bubbles that come near you, and do damage to the boss at the same time. The more damage you've done, the more bubbles he spews. He'll die eventually.
Area 6: Ice Mutant Crab--- This boss is similar to the Area 2 boss, only the arms are longer, it spits more bubbles, and fires ice missiles from it's claws. If you're going to go one-on-one with it, then I highly recommend that you move constantly, and fire with a high-powered gun. It is a lot easier, however, if you use the grenade and Pause trick I described for the Area 2 boss.
Area 7: Giant Lava Frog--- In your second encounter with the frog, the pattern becomes even more complex. First is 4 hops, then 3 fireballs; 4 hops, a pause; 4 hops, bubble spit; 5 hops, bubble spit; 1 hop, fireball; 1 hop, bubble spit; 1 hop, bubble spit; 4 hops, fireball; 3 hops, tongue, 4 fireballs; 4 hops, tongue. Then it repeats. Best chance to hit it is on the last tongue part. Just hit it with a grenade from the side as soon os possible and pause. The damage will roll in, and you'll walk away unscathed.
Area 8: Ugly Rock Spitter--- This boss isn't too tough with a fully charged gun. Stay right where you stand when you enter the room. Start shooting. Most of your shots will harmlessly chink off the creature, but some will do damage. Fire as fast as possible, and you shouldn't be hit by any rocks. If, by chance, a rock seems to threaten you, quickly sidestep it and return to your original position, continuously firing.
Final Boss: Wimp with a Whip--- As soon as possible, stand to the right and fire grenades at the boss. When he gets too close for comfort, go down and to his other side. Then turn and fire more grenades. You should get 3 or 4 into him each time before you have to run away. Don't get too greedy though. If he ever stops moving, quickly run in the opposite direction of where you were going, because he is about to strike with his whip. It takes about 100 grenades to off this fool.
