Roschenka Ilvanya, with her peculiar name and distinctly strange accent, is not of Palladia; rather the lass was born in a distant realm, some rumor even another world. The truth of the matter is that she came from Earth, and passed through the crackling portal of a rift to enter the plane of existence in which she now resides.
Anya was born and raised in an eclectic Gypsy camp deep within the old Russian Empire. From an early age her maternal grandmother noticed a "spark" in Anya, and began to teach the young girl all of her knowledge of the old forgotten ways. A strikingly attractive child, Anya showed a natual affinity for nature, the healing of the body and mind, and a deep love for the happiness of her people. Her grandmother also learned of the girl's minor psychic talent, and so taught all she knew of such abilities to her young protoge.
Anya enjoyed learning all she could of healing, and the wonders that the world could present... but the more she discovered, the more she questioned what lay beyond the ancient traveled routes of her people. And so, shortly after her fifteenth birthday, the opportunity to step beyond those familiar boundaries presented itself to her in a most unexpected way. Her restless cousin Celeste yearned to prove her spirit as a Gypsy, to her inner self and the world, even as her non-Gypsy father ostracized her blood. Late one night the two slipped away under the cover of darkness to discover their own destinies. And neither were prepared for the whirlwind of adventure, new knowledge and past pain, that lay in the cards Fate had dealt them.
In one such chapter of her journey from the motherland of Russia, Anya eventually was granted the opportunity to not only travel her own world, but rift to alternate worlds as well. And from such a trial, Anya arrived in Palladia and presently spent what will amount to some five years studying beneath an herbalist, mystic, and sorceress of more obscure and mysterious powers; she who is known simply as the Lady 'A'. Learning much of the magic which can be found springing forth from the womb of the earth, the once-Gypsy lass begins to discover her true purpose in serving the Mother, Mokosh; and begins to take true steps towards her destiny.
Anya is now a young Gypsy woman of unusual beauty and compassion, standing at about five feet nine inches tall, a slender one-hundred twenty pounds. Wavy deep chestnut hair falls to her waist and silver eyes peer out from full bangs. She enjoys singing and dancing immensely and misses the music Celeste would play for her. Deeply devoted to her Goddess of Mother Earth (even though she is dimentionally removed from Her), she often seeks Her wisdom and guidance through prayer and meditation; Anya frequently travels among the poor of the region and performs healing free of charge. She is also gaining a solid reputation as a healer and counselor amongst her peers. However, Anya still struggles in relationships with men, beginning with her first serious romance involving a mage who proved to be a psychotic necromancer bent on sacrificing her virgin body for a twisted magical ritual. Needless to say she is now wary of all strangers, save a select inner circle, to whom she entrusts her life.
