“Hello?” I said groggily into my phone.
“Hey! It’s Ash!” Ashley said hyperly.
“Man you have bad timing!”
“Why?”
“I was having a really good dream about Clint!”
“Clint? What about Dave?”
“Dave?...Oh, Dave, I dunno.”
“Okay, that’s weird. I’m coming over so we can talk about last night.”
“Okay, bye.” And with that we hung up.
15 minutes later Ashley was at my house. I told her all about the night before.
“Wow, you’re so lucky, you got to spend the night with the Moffatts!” she said after I finished.
I smiled at her.
“It’s kind of weird though, I mean when I left last night you were all, ‘Dave, Dave, Dave!’ and now all you wanna talk about is Clint,” she said.
I smiled again. “Well, I really like him...and he seems to like me too.”
“That’s another thing, you have one, maybe two, Moffatts interested in you and Scott will never even notice me.”
“Hey! That’s not true! You’re an attractive 15 year old girl, perfect for Scott Moffatt.”
“How do you know?”
“I just know, and I told him about you and he seemed interested.”
“Really!?!?! Oh my god! Scott Moffatt might be interested in me!!”
“Here we go again.”
“No, I’m gonna be calm.”
“Oh yeah, they invited us to lunch and to their concert tonight.”
“They Wha!?....I mean, oh really wow!” she said.
“Yeah, Clint’s supposed to call today to make arrangements.”
As if he heard me the phone rang. I froze and looked at Ashley with an excited look in my eyes.
“Meri! It’s for you!” I heard my brother yell up the stairs.
I took a deep breath and picked up the phone, “Hello?”
“Hey, it’s Clint.”
“Oh, hey!” “I hope I didn’t wake you.”
I looked at Ashley, “No, you didn’t.”
“Cool, did you have good dreams?”
I smiled, “Well, actually I did.”
“So did I...I was dreaming of you.”
“That’s sweet.”
“Now Dave is rolling his eyes at me...he doesn’t know how to be romantic. “I do to, just give me the right girl!” I heard him say in the backround.
We made arrangements to meet for lunch. I hung up the phone. “We’re having lunch with them, they are coming to pick us up at 1:00,” I said.
“What? Only two hours to get ready? What are we gonna do?”
We looked at eachother and cracked up. Then we went upstairs to look for something to wear.
“Mom, I’m going to lunch with some friends and I’m going to a concert tonight. So I’ll be home later,” I said to my mom as Ashley and I walked downstairs.
“Wow, two nights in a a row who’s the guy?”
“Uhh,” I looked nervously between Ashley and my mom, “His name is, Clint!”
“I saw that look, what’s going on with him?” she asked.
“Well, you see, he’s uhh, kinda, uhh...”
“Meridith, say it!”
“HisnameisClintMoffattandhe’sinaband” I said quickly. “Well, gotta go bye!”
“Wait a minute...he’s in a band? Your father and I already talked to you about this. We don’t want you with a guy that can’t support you.”
“God, mom I just met him yesterday, we’re not getting married. And just because he’s in a band doesn’t mean he doesn’t have money. His band, which is called The Moffatts is pretty famous. That’s the concert that we’re going to tonight.”
“That’s even worse! You’re gonna fall for this guy and he’s gonna leave you heartbroken.”
“I will not...We’ll hang over the summer, then he’ll leave on tour and forget about me,” I said even though that was the last thing I wanted to happen.
“And you’re okay with that?”
“Well, that’s what I’m expecting,” I lied.
“Okay, I want to meet this guy.”
“Well, you see, Marj, you can’t just meet Clint, you have his three other brother, too,” Ashley said from the kitchen table (she was used to my mother’s lectures).
“Oh, so he has brothers? This is perfect.”
“Yeah, he’s one of 3 triplets!” I said.
“Oh, there’s three of them, I can just imagine!”
Just then the doorbell rang. I gave my mom a pleading look. “Please don’t embarrass me in front of them!”
