How to make a veil

What you will need

How to make it

While standing, determine how many layers you want and how long you want each one to be. Mine has 3 layers, the longest of which goes to the middle of my calves, the second to my knees and the shortest to my hips. The shortest one I can pull over my head and it will cover the front of my body to my hips. Make a mark of where you want to divide up the tulle to get these lengths. Hint: if you are making a two layer or a three layer veil, it is not necessary to cut all the lengths apart. Two at a time can be left together and simply bunched at the right place. Cut the pieces apart and organize them into the order of length you want.

Bunch the pieces together at one end, in the order you want them layered, and sew them together in such a way that they won't come apart. Or you can sew them one at a time onto the barrette or headband, hiding it. Using the needle and thread, sew the tulle evenly across the length of the barrette or headband so that there is a full gather all the way across. Be sure to sew it on tight so that there is no chance of it coming loose when you wear it. Don't worry about the ends, they won't likely come unravelled (unless you want to take the time to sew on a beaded edge).

Position the flowers and ribbons on the top of the barrette. Firmly sew in place. Make sure the veil will fit and that the tulle and roses don't obstruct the barrette.

The veil is ready to be worn.
