My *NSYNC *Xperience

I had been so proud that I never fell for The New Kids, and now at the age of 19, I went to my first boy band concert and not only saw *NSYNC, but also former New Kid, Jordan Knight

First let me explain that I didn't plan to go to this concert, I didn't even know tickets went on sale til that morning. I had planned to go buy some for an Offspring concert, but my sisters informed me that *NSYNC tickets went on sale the same day. So there I am, asking the guy at the counter for tickets to the Offspring and *NSYNC (I bet you can imagine the look I got). Although, at the time I thought I would get to see 5ive, the main reason I got the tickets. However, they dropped out and had Third Storee and the girl that sang the "I love your smile" song open. Nothing seemed to go right. I was supposed to go with three other friends that I used to work with, one an *NSYNC and BSB fan one a Jordan fan and the other one just because she's a close friend. Well, the close friend and the Jordan fan both couldn't get out of working that night, so we took the *NSNYC/BSB fan's boyfriend and his friend, both of whom are in a band that plays music very different from *NSYNC's material (KoRn, Deftones, Coal Chamber, etc.).

Third Storee pretty much sucked, and from way up on the lawn I couldn't tell if they were kids or just really short adults. The girl was o.k. and Jordan was too. The guys really liked his dj, he was awesome. Then came *NSYNC. And the screaming. About 5 minutes before anything started, on the speakers you could hear who I thought was Chris singing the "Oscar Meyer" song, and he even spelled bolonga "b-a-l-o-g-n-a." When the lights went off, this guy with a bad accent came on and said that *NSNYC stole his girlfriend and so he wanted to lock all the entrances so no one could enter or leave. Then you hear *NSYNC saying that they really need to put on this show so they have no choice but to land on the stage from their helicopter. Playing the theme from Mission Impossible, they profile each *NSYNCer, JC first of course (yet another example of his role in the MMCult), then Justin (second in command of the MMCult), then Joey, Lance and Chris last because no one likes him. When that's done, they slid down the ropes and started to sing "Here We Go." I don't remember the exact order the songs were in, but they're pretty close. They did "You Got It" and "For The Girl Who Has Everything" a loooove song as JC put it, for the girls in the audience because they didn't get a seat on stage for that song.

Then they did the turn back the clock thing, doing "That Thing You Do" for the 1960's which some teenie boppers might not realize is not a real song from the 60's and they weren't even playing the instruments. I didn't notice that, but one of the guys we were with is the drummer in their band (**credible source since he plays**) and he could tell Joey wasn't hitting the cymbals at the right time. Then came the 70's (hope so, they wouldn't want to put the 80's next) and Chris did an excellent job of sounding like Michael Jackson, I almost thought they were just playing the Jackson 5 version. And why did JC have to be the only one with a fro? The others just wore dumb hats. I was disappointed for the 80's. I really wanted to hear an old New Kids song, but Jordan didn't do it and I thought that maybe since they started the whole commercial part of boy bands that *NSYNC might do a tribute to them. But I was disappointed. They did "Celebrate" which I'm not even sure was from the 80's, I think it was the late 70's but I would have to check on that. For the 90's they just did one of their own songs, but I can't remember what it was, and I didn't really care because I didn't get to hear "Hangin' Tough."

They sang "I Drive Myself Crazy" and "GMHSALMTOY," which Justin took ten minutes (no kidding) to sing "a little more time on you" not the whole song, just that one line. FOR TEN MINUTES. I swear I was going deaf from the sreaming of the two girls behind me, one yelling "I love you Justin" and the other, not to be outdone, yelling "I love you Lance." Now we're way back on the lawn remember, not even Superman would be able to hear them from the stage. Chris finally interrupted him, and asked (the same thing I was wondering) if Justin knew the words. He said he did, but he was nervous from all the people and needed the help of a little 6 year old girl in the first row, whose name just happened to be Britney. On top of that, Justin is a pedophile because the poor little girl was trying to get away from him and he told her to come closer to him. He even told her mom he wasn't going to try anything funny. When that was finally over, I got to hear the only *NSYNC song that I can really dance to "You Drive Me Crazy." I had heard it for the first time the day before and I just loved it. They played the video for it while the boys changed. That thing was hilarious, but someone needs to tell JC that rappers don't wear berets

Then *NSYNC sang "Crazy For You" and "I Want You Back," and Justin said the exact same thing I've heard him say on two other performances during this song: "Your turn to sing...louder." To wrap the show up, they performed "Giddy Up" and "Tearing Up My Heart." Some time that night they did "I Just Want To Be With You," but I don't remember when. I had fun though, it wasn't as bad as it sounded. I just have one thing to comment on about hair: 1. Lance, the spikes looked good on Scott 2. Joey got his hair colored again and this time he brought in the Bulls jersey and told the stylist to make his hair match it and 3. Why did Chris have sparkles in his hair?
