Name:
Chad SextonI have been recovering well from my wrist injury. I am back on the drum kit and able to play without any pain.
During my free time, now that 311 is off the road, I've been watching a lot of basketball and working on my new house (landscaping, etc.). I am also beginning to put some new songs together in my home studio. We will probably begin rehearsing in May.
There are a few books that I've recently read that I would recommend - Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson and A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. Both are definitely mind-expanding.
Lately I've been listening to...
King Tubby - With the Sould Syndicate
John McLaughlin - The Heart of Things
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II
ELO - Out of the Blue
The Urge - Master of Styles
De La Soul - Stakes are High
Pharcyde - LabcabinCalifornia
Hobbies:
Bike Riding. Cooking. Movies. Writing and listening to music. I mostly write in my home studio - where I have some keyboards, samplers, drum machines, etc.. I also have a double neck guitar - it is a 1978 Ibanez. I bought it at a pawn shop in LA. It is very rare. It is a rip-off of the Gibson SG doubleneck - so Gibson sued Ibanez and they had to discontinue the line. I love to play it. I also collect Snare Drums - I have 2 very rare custom snares - one is a 30 ply snare, which is the thickest I have ever seen and one is a 3 x 13 which is the thinnnest I have ever seen. I also have a very cool snare with holes in the shell.

Musical Training
Drum lessons from many instructors beginning in 1977. Played in Drum Corps from 1983 -1987. Began teaching drum lines in 1988 and taught off and on until 1991. I have taken a few piano lessons - but my best musical training came from live situations like jam sessions or playing in an ensemble. Another way to learn is by watching and listening to other musicians.
Health
I take vitamins and herbs everyday. I have acupuncture treatments every 2 months and also enjoy a good massage.
