Mrs Wishy Washy and The Wishy Washy Day

Day 1 Read Mrs. Wishy Washy using Shared Big Book strategies. Discuss the sequence of the story. Use picture cards to model the sequence of the story.

Day 2 Re-read the story Mrs. Wishy Washy. Have the children color, cut and paste in correct order the sequence of the story.

Day 3 Read The Wishy Washy Day using Shared Big Book strategies. Again discuss the sequence of the story events.

Day 4 Re-read the book The Wishy Washy Day. Have the children color, cut and paste in order the events of the story.

Day 5 Review both books. Discuss, using a Venn Diagram, the similarities and differences between the stories. Discuss the titles of the stories. Have the children complete this sentence. Have them trace the words and draw the picture. I liked the story ________________________better because___________________________________. Ask the children one at a time to complete the sentence, teacher writes their response on the paper and sends child to their desk to trace the words and draw the picture.

Day 6 Re-read both stories. Review the Venn Diagram. Discuss how they might be like one of the characters in the stories. Review the TITLES of the books. Have them finish this sentence and draw a picture. I am like__________________________(choose an animal or Mrs Wishy Washy) in the book ___________________because I ____________________________.
