Part 2 B

For the next 2 days, he was depressed. He cried all the time, even in front of Nick and the guys, which he rarely did. At rehearsal he messed up all the dances. Therefore, Fatima gave him a couple days off till after the funeral. Finally 2 days later, it was the day of the funeral. It was to start at 3:00, in an hour, and no one had seen Brian. Nick knocked on Brian's door....and he heard a thud and two clicks. Nick turned the knob and opened the door. Brian was closing his guitar case.

"Rok, man, we gotta leave in a few minutes. How ya doing?" He patted him on the back.

Brian sighed. "Well, the woman I love is gone and my heart hurts. Other than that, I'm just dandy!"

Nick shook his head. He felt so bad for his best friend. "I'm sorry. If there's anything I can do, let me know. But right now, we gotta go."

Brian picked up his guitar as Nick pointed at it.

"What's that for?"

Brian smiled through his tears. "There's something I have to do...and I may need the Boys help."

"What's your plan?" Nick asked.

Brian shook his head. "I'll tell you ALL when we get to the limo."

They walked out of the hotel and into the limo. Brian wasn't ready for what he saw.

"Hey, baby."

He pointed to the limo door. "Nope...now is NOT the time. Get out. Please!" He looked at her and shook his head as she climbed out.

She handed him a piece of paper. "That's my new number. Call me when you're over HER!"

He sighed and read the paper.

Leighanne~555-1975

As the limo drove away, he rolled down the window. He threw the paper out the window and his friends watched as he put his past behind him.

"Okay, sorry. So, what's your plan?" Nick asked remembering what Brian had said.

"Well, Brandi's mom wants me to say a few words at the funeral. I'm going to....but, I'm also gonna sing...our song!"

Nick gave Brian a quizzical look. "What song?" He asked.

"Show me the meaning. She used to always have me sing that song. Will you guys do back-up?"

Nick nodded. "Yeah, sure, Brian."

Brian leaned back against the cushioned seat. His head was pounding and his heart was aching.

The ride to the funeral home was quiet. When the pulled up in front of it, they all piled out. They solemnly entered the funeral home and looked around. To Brian's surprise, there were a lot of people. The pastor was standing at the podium and Brandi's mom waved them over. They all sat down. Soon, the funeral had begun. A lot of people went up to speak. Brandi's family, friends, and the Boys. Brian was the last one to go up. He stood there in front of everyone, sobbing. Finally, he caught his breath and spoke.

"Well, what can I say? I think meeting Brandi was an accident. You probably think accidents are always bad. But this was the best thing that ever happened to me. When I met Brandi, it was JUST to grant a dying girl her last wish. The other guys found a friend in Brandi. But Brandi and I both found more than we bargained for. We found friendship, trust and a love to last a lifetime. Brandi and I..." He stopped to take a breath and continued. "Brandi and I had a song. Everytime I would visit her in the hospital, he'd have me sing it. It's called "Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely." I find it very appropriate for the occasion." He walked over to his seat, grabbed his guitar, and walked up onto the small stage with the guys following him. He began singing.

Show me the meaning of being lonely

So many words for the broken hearted
It's hard to see in a crimson love
So hard to breathe
Walk with me and maybe
Nights of light so soon become
Wild and free I can feel the sun
Your every wish will be done they tell me

When he finished, everyone was crying. He had Nick carry his guitar back to his seat and he walked over to the casket. He took the red rose that Nick had just handed him and kissed it. He looked at her lying there. He knew it was true as the sparkle in the diamond on her hand caught his eye. They really would be together forever. A piece of him would always be gone...but not wasted. It would be with her. He laid the rose in the casket over top her hands.

"Together forever!" He whispered. "I love you."

He walked back to his seat to face the world and life ahead of him....without her.
