Chapter 3

Kris and Manda didn't end up going by Brian and Nick's but they did get completely settled in the house. As they sat in their newly arranged living room Kris glimpsed out of the window that faced the beach. She noticed the small crowd that day and looked up into the sky.

"Oh! Damn! Looks like it might rain. I wanted to go to the beach today..." Kris complained to Manda.

No sooner had she said this she saw a bolt of lightening outside accompanied by booming thunder. Manda grumbled on to Kris about how bad of a day it would be and turned on the news.

"Several thunderstorms are expected today due to a tropical storm developing quickly off the coast of Hawaii..."

"Just our luck...The very next day after we get here too." Manda bitched.

Then the news reporter continued. "The storm is expected to become the first hurricane of the season within 24 hours. More news later in the day. We'll keep you updated."

Kris started whining about how she wanted to work on her tan, as Manda reached to turn off the tv, the sky flashed and suddenly they were both sitting in hushed darkness.

A few minutes later they heard banging on the window that Kris was looking out of and they both screamed. Then they heard two familiar voices calling their names.

"Oh look it's Nick and Brian!" Manda said excitedly.

At the sound of this Kris jumped up and ran to the door. When she opened the door there stood a soaked Nick and Brian. "Hey Guys! We're glad y'all are here but don't y'all think ya coulda waited? Come in and we'll get ya a towel."

They were standing in the kitchen when Manda came with some towels.

"Thanx." They both said in unison.

"Hey y'all we gotta ask ya a big favor." Brian said quickly. Kris and Manda exchanged curious glances then nodded for Brian to continue. "Well, lemme explain something first. Remember those girls at Mc Donald's yesterday?"

"Mm Hmm." Manda replied.

"What about them?" Kris asked.

"Well last night at about ten the door bell rang so we answered thinking it was y'all but it was those fans..the girls. We kinda slammed the door in their faces and they just didn't get the point. They kept banging on the door and looking in the windows. I even think they called B98.4 again, but we're not sure. They left when it started raining. That's why we came when we did." Nick explained.

Kris and Manda started laughing hysterically.

"Oh come on y'all we need to know if we can stay here. We're gonna go hide our car and everything so they'll think we're gone. We can double up in rooms and we'll cook and clean or whatever." Brian pleaded.

"We just don't wanna be terrorized by fans for these three months."

"Well we're already getting terroized by this expected hurricane."Kris interjected.

"What?" Nick gasped. "What are ya talking about?"

"Oh you didn't hear, did you?" Kris replied. "There's a tropical storm expected to be a hurricane tomorrow blowing right in here on the coast."

"We suggest you do what you need to do now next door cuz you don't have much time." Manda added.

They glanced out of the window and they realized that the rain started slacking off just a bit.

"We'll be back later." Brian said as he and Nick left running across the yard in the rain.
