I'm 23 years old, and I live in Orlando, Florida, though I spent most of my life in California. I moved here a little over a year ago because I wanted to be a singer, and I just wasn't getting anywhere at home. So I moved to Florida and looked at advertisements for a roommate, since I didn't have enough money then to get my own apartment. I was glancing at the ads one day when I came across one with 4 girls around my age look for a female roommate aged 17-28. I immediately called the number. The girl who answered the phone sounded really nice. We agreed that I should come over, see the apartment, and meet the girls, so I went over that night. That was how I met Kedra, Latasha, Yolanda, and Ruthie. I fitted right in with them, and I moved in the next week. Now they're my best friends. I'll tell you more about them in a moment, though. First, a little bit more about myself.
I have medium-length, layered, extremely curly, dark blonde hair with natural light blonde highlights. My eyes are big and dark brown, which makes them perfect for making puppy dog faces and looking innocent when I'm really not. I'm about 5 feet 5 1/2 inches, which I hate, because it puts me at a disadvantage when I'm playing basketball. But, I've learned to deal with it, and I'm actually really good at point. There are 3 things I love more than anything. Writing, basketball, and music. I've always loved to write. In writing, I have complete control over everything - the plot, the characters, etc. It helps me get my feelings out, even if they're in a different form. I've written countless novels, short stories, poetry, and songs (I write all of my own songs - lyrics AND music). As for basketball, well, I'm a little on the obsessed side. Especially women's ball. I'm sorry, I just can't help it! I also play basketball. Like I said before, I'm short, so I'm at a disadvantage. But I've worked really hard, and with a lot of training, now I'm quick enough to make up for my height. I played in high school and college, and I was going to try to go pro, but I decided to concentrate on my singing instead. That brings me to music. My first love - and it always will be. I love everything about it - listening to it, playing instruments, and singing. That's why I'm here.
Well, now that you know everything you ever wanted to know about me (and more), I'll tell you about my 4 roommates and best friends.
Let's start with Ruth Yanting. She's the youngest of all of us, at age 17. Ruthie has long, straigh black hair, brown eyes, and dark skin. She's the shortest at 5'4". She's pretty quiet at first, but she gets extremely outgoing once you get to know her. Sometimes she acts clingy, which can get annoying, but we've all pretty much gotten used to it. Ruthie had just graduated from high, and she was now a student at Florida State. Pretty much everyone calls her Ruthie.
Next in the order of age would be Kedra Edwards, at age 20. She's probably my best friend out of all of them. We just clicked together from the moment we met. Maybe that's because we have almost everything in common. We do go for different types of guys, though (good thing). She goes for the wild adventurous guys, and I go for the serious yet immature ones. Kedra has very short, wavy, dark-blonde hair. Her eyes are a light green, but she wishes they were a brighter shade. She's about 5'7", and she teases me about my height a lot. Grrr... Anyway, the girls and I call her Kiwi. There is a story to it, don't worry. One day the girls were in my room, trying to wake me up (not a fun task), when Kedra poured water on me. I muttered 'Fuck off, Kedra' into my pillow, but it was muffled, so the girls thought I had said Kiwi. The name stuck.
Next down the age line would be me, since I'm the middle one, but since I've already told you about me, I'll move on. But, just so you know, the girls usually call me Tish or T.
Second oldest, at age 24, would be Latasha Young. She's the biggest flirt - and the one guys always go for. Tasha's got straight, shoulder-length, layered brown hair. Her eyes are green, a brighter shade than Kedra's, but still not bright. She's about 5'6" and really skinny. So whenever we go somewhere with her, the guys are always all over her - completely ignoring the rest of us. But, she can't really help it, and it doesn't mean we dislike her. We like her a lot, honestly! We usually call her either Tasha or Tot.
And the oldest of us all is Yolanda Davis, who's 26 years old. Yo is crazy or responsible, depending on her mood. She has straight, long, blonde hair and blue eyes. She's the tallest of us all, at 5'8". Actually, none of us are particularily tall, but we've gotten used to it. Yo is originally from Utah, so she roots for the Utah Starzz instead of the Sacramento Monarchs like I do...grr. Sorry, my WNBA basketball obsessed brain is kicking in. Anyway, Yolanda is a lot of fun, and if you haven't figured it out already, her nickname is Yo.
So, that pretty much covers it. You now know who we are. Aren't you lucky? I thought so.
You know, when I stepped off the plane to Orlando, I had no idea what to expect. I didn't know how far I would get - or if I would get anywhere at all. I was taking a huge risk. But, by taking that risk, I changed my best friends and I's lives - forever.
