My Thoughts on 9/11
Like everyone else, I was absolutely devastated by the terrorist attacks that happened on September 11, 2001. It was by far the biggest tragedy that ever happened in America. When I first heard it, I was at work, but since I was busy at the time of the attacks, I didn't know about it then. Karen called me a while later, and she was crying hysterically. Since at that time I didn't know what happened, I naturally thought that something happened to her. But then she told me about the attacks on the World Trade Center as well as the attack on the Pentagon and the crash in Pennsylvania, and I was in total disbelief. How could something like that happen in this country? Who was behind it, and how could we get revenge on those responsible? When I arrived home, I immediately turned on the television, and when I saw the World Trade Center in ruins I was just shocked. And to think of all of the lives that were lost. People who were totally innocent. I couldn't even begin to think what the families of those people were going through. I was also thinking about how the terrorists committed that atrocity in the name of Islam, but they were actually disgracing their religion. What kind of God would want that? Not the one I know about, and we all have the same God. The message in the John Lennon song "Imagine" means more than ever these days. If there were no things like countries or religion, maybe we all would live in peace.
