At The Drive-In
The place I enjoyed watching movies the most was the drive-in theatre. Unlike many other people my age, I didn't get to experience it as a kid or even a teenager (that's one thing that separates me from Karen). I was already an adult when I first went to a drive-in. But I'm glad it finally happened. They are definitely the best places to see movies. There's nothing like watching movies from your car. You have all the privacy in the world, and you don't have to worry about parking. The admission is much less than multiplexes, and you get two movies. And there's a certain feeling of nostalgia as well. The two drive-ins that I went to were the Studio and Centinela, which were close to where I live. Unfortunately, both of them eventually closed. As with most drive-ins, these two were victims of development. It's sad that they, as well as most of the entire drive-in industry, had come to an end (the lots that held the Studio and Centinela are now housing projects). Not only did rising real estate values hurt the drive-in industry, but so did multiplexes (I don't like those places at all). Thank God I took plenty of pictures of both of those drive-ins. Now only if I had gone to more drive-ins (many of which closed before the Studio and Centinela). What's equally sad is that most of the indoor neighborhood theatres are gone as well. Moviegoing just isn't the same these days.
