Package from the President
6/14/00 Owney arrived at my home. The box had a return address of The White House! It was stamped "X-rayed," and had lots of pictures of Owney on the outside. Inside we found Owney with all his collection of pins and tags, his thick journal, and many other mementos of his journey. There was a packet from the White House with pictures of President Bill Clinton, his wife Hilary, and Socks and Buddy. There was also a letter signed by the president.I admit to being disappointed that there was not a photograph of the president with Owney. Perhaps next year we need to have everyone write a letter to the president asking him for a photo with Owney. Maybe everyone would get a packet and we could also draw attention to the project and get that photo.
This page is slow to load with all of the pictures, but it might be worth waiting for. I wish I could put everything from the packet on the page.
