Corey Adams, WR...(6'2'', 220, 4.46)...Little-known WR from same GA HS as fellow comittment Jamal Muhammed. Just moved to GA from FL. Only caught 21 passes his Jr. year, though it was in a run-oriented offense. However, one-third (7) of those catches went for TD's. He has an intriguing combination of size and speed, and could be a potential diamond in the rough. Some speculate that he could grow into a TE, though he will likely begin his OSU career as a WR. He is the ninth player to committ to the Buckeyes so far.
BJ Barre, DB...(6'1'', 185, 4.5)...Relatively unknown prior to his verbal. Has moved several times throughout HS which could be the reason for that. Will remain in OH this year, and should be a top 15-20 player in the state. He also played RB in HS, but is projected as a DB for OSU. Rushed for 719 yards his Jr. year, while scoring 14 TD's (though 2 of those were on punt returns and another on an INT return). Only played in seven games because of an injury. He is the third player to committ to the Buckeyes.
John Hollins, WR...(6'2'', 185, 4.4)...Offered immediately after running the 4.4 40 at OSU's summer camp. He caught 40 passes last year, scoring 11 TD's. There isn't much information on him at this point. He was considering Mich, Purdue, ND, and Mich St before he verballed to OSU. He was the seventh player to verbal to OSU, and was the first WR.
Larry Kinnard, OL...(6'7'', 295, 5.2)...First member of Ohio State's 2000 recruiting class. Rated the 22nd best OL in the country by Prep America, and called by Bill Kurelic as one of the top 10 players in Ohio. His parents are ministers. Played some basketball in high school. Chose OSU over Michigan and Indiana. Have seen him on some top 100 lists, should be a top 250 player for sure.
Jamal Muhammed, LB...(6'1'', 230, 4.56)...From the same GA high school as fellow recruit Corey Adams. Also plays FB in HS, though he will focus on LB in college. He had 126 tackles and 6 sacks his Jr. year, as well as 475 yards rushing. Wanted to commit early to avoid the recruiting hassles, and one of the reasons he picked OSU was because of its national TV exposure. He is the fifth committment for the Buckeyes, and is the first out of state player to say he'll be a Buckeye next year.
Terry Pogue, Ath...(6'2'', 220, 4.5)...Plays both RB and LB...Wants to try RB first in college, but was recruited as an "athlete", leaving the door open for LB. Bill Kurelic called him the best "big back" in Ohio this year. Probably rated somewhere around the #10 player in OH, give or take a couple spots. Rushed for 1,317 yards last season, with an average of 9.7 yards per carry while scoring 17 TD's. From LB he had 53 tackles and 15 sacks. Somewhat of a soft committment because he has said he may still take some official visits. He is the sixth verbal committment for OSU this year.
Darrien Scott, LB...(6'3'', 220, 4.65)...Plays LB and RB in HS. There is a chance he could be moved to FB or grow into a DL in college, but for now is projected as a LB. One of the top 5 players in West Virginia this year. His Jr. year he recorded 133 tackles and gained 1,291 yards at RB. Said that he's wanted to be a Buckeye since he was a kid. Have seen him on some early top 100 lists, definite top 200 player. He is the eighth verbal so far.
Alex Stepanovich, OL...(6'5'', 270, 4.9)...One of the top 5 players in OH this year. He is also a very accomplished wrestler. He should be on at least some top 100 lists this year. He was also considering Mich, Mich St, ND, and Nebraska. The fourth Buckeye committment, and the second (along with Kinnard) of the big four OL (Munoz and Hall the other two) in Ohio this year.
Alphonso Townsend, DL...(6'6'', 275, 4.75)...Played both lines in HS, but is projected as a DE. One of the top 5 players in OH, and rated by Bobby Burton as one of the top 26 upcoming seniors. One major reason he chose OSU was because of the number of players they put into the NFL. The second player to committ to the Buckeyes.
