I was in the same hospital where Princess Grace died
And know two people with my exact birthday
I remember Venice
The canals cold and blue
I remember my grandma
With a heart of gold
She died not long ago
And my mom cries a lot
I have heard soft snowflakes falling on my tent
And have felt a glacier beneath my bare feet
I have hiked, biked, walked and talked
But not loved
I’ve learned that life gives rise to music
And music rise to life
I’ve learned three languages
Although spanish not so well
I’ve been alone in nature
And have come back changed
I’ve heard of god and the devil
But as yet have not been reached by either
I’ve listened to the sounds of silence
Seen ultraviolet, and witnessed an angel
I’ve seen Sweden, Italy, and Austria too
I’ve seen Costa Rica with cloud forests of green
I have not yet met the girl with
Soulful eyes and a caring heart
But I am patient
I used to ride
And I’ve seen the dwellings of the ancient anasazi
I’ve smelled the air inside a kiva
And felt the power flowing through my veins
The power to care, to be compassionate
To hold against the backward flowing tide of
Life
