Later that night, after the concert, Melody was walking down the hospital halls to Desteny's room, causing her to whince in pain as pain shot through her arm. Ignoring the pain, she grabbed the doornob and opened the door to the dark room. At first, Melody thought that Desteny was asleep but then she saw Desteny sitting up in bed, staring into the darkness. She closed the door and walked over to Desteny's bed. Desteny had the window open and a light autemn breeze was coming in.
"Desteny, are you ok?" asked Melody, walking over to her bedside.
"I guess," mumbled Desteny, looking at the white full moon in the twinking sky.
"Dest, we've always shared everything. Right now, you need your friends more than you realize. Don't push me away. Talk to me," said Melody quietly.
Desteny sighed. "The doctor came in after you guys left and told me and Nick all the things that can happen. Not only could I lose the baby, I may never be ablt to have a baby ever again," whispered Desteny, her tears flowing down her cheeks.
Melody felt tears come into her own eyes. She reached out and hugged Desteny, who cried on her shoulder. "It's alright Desteny. Every thing will turn out ok in the end. Not only is this baby going to live and grow up to be as great as it's mom and dad, but you and Nick are going to get married and have lots more babies(ya I know, it sounds like a line out of Titanic)," assured Melody.
Desteny laughed through her tears. "Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?" asked Melody, smiling.
Desteny smiled. "For always being there, by my side, when I needed it the most. You are a true friend," whispered Desteny. Melody was choaked up and tears were in her eyes. Desteny handed her a tissue and rolled her eyes. "A very sappy friend," she added. They both laughed.
The Next Day, before the guys leave for the tour
Desteny was sitting in her bed, talking with Nick, Melody and Brian when Donna came into her hospital room. All conversation stopped. Nick had explained the situation to Donna and she hadn't said much.
"Melody, Brian, can I please talk to Nick and Desteny alone?" asked Donna, her face blank.
"Sure," said Melody quietly. Melody wished she had a camera then because the look of terror on Nick and Desteny's faces was priceless. Brian and Melody quietly slipped out of the room.
Donna faced Desteny and Nick, her face showing no emotion. "I've been wanting to talk to you two since I heard about the baby," she said, walking closer to Desteny's bed where they sat.
"About what?" asked Nick, meekly.
"I've wanted to say..." began Donna. Then broke out into a huge smile. "Congradulations!" she cried as she reached out and hugged Nick and Desteny.
"I thought you were going to yell at us about responsiblity and stuff like that," said Desteny, shocked.
Donna laughed. "Well, when Nick first told me, I was mad. But now I see that you two are responsible adults and you make you're own descions. I'm sure this baby will grow up with lots of love, so I wish you two the best," said Donna.
"Thank you," said Nick, relieved. "I still don't know how I'm going to tell Jonny."
Donna laughed again. "You let me handle Jonny. Now, you two do realize that this might be hard. Nick, you're going to have to chose between staying here with Desteny or going out on the tour with the rest of the Backstreet Boys."
Nick was about to say something when Desteny inturputed him. "He's going out on tour," she said, looking at him.
"But..." started Nick.
"Nick, you're part of the Backstreet Boys. One of the biggest group today. I'm not going to let you ruin that for thousands of girls just because your worried about me," said Desteny.
"Nothing really importent will be happening in the first few months anyways, speaking from experience," said Donna with a smile. "I'll make you a deal Nick. If you work really hard on the tour for the next 7 months, I'll let you spend the whole last month of Desteny's pregnacey with her and a month after, ok?"
Nick thought about it for a while. "Ok, that sounds fair to me," he said after a while.
"Alright, it's a deal. Now, I'm sorry to split you two up but the bus is in the back and waiting for you and Brian to get your butts down there. I'll leave you two, alone to say good-bye," said Donna, opening the door.
"Is it safe to go in?" asked Brian, who was waiting outside with Melody.
Donna smiled. "Of course. Hurry up and say good-bye. The bus is leaving in 5 minutes and I don't want to have to come up and get you two," warned Donna, as she walked down the hall. Brian and Melody walked into Desteny's room.
"Well, I guess this is good-bye for a while. Dest, I promise, me and all the guys will come up after the baby is born and see you, ok?" promised Brian, giving her a hug.
"You better, or I'll kill you," warned Desteny, laughing.
"And I will see you in a week," promised Nick, kissing Desteny on the forehead.
Desteny sighed. "Don't be late," she said quietly.
Nick smiled. "I won't. I'll miss you and I'm going to be calling every single day to see how you're doing," said Nick, smiling.
Desteny laughed. "I'll be expecting you're phone call," she said.
Brian and Nick gave the girls one last kiss and slowly left the room, leave two sad girls behind them.
