1.Start by going into the room to the left and knocking the baddies into the hole to get a key. Now get compass.
2.Now return to entrance and go up. Get key and go left to get map.
3.When you get to the room w/ the baddies that have signs flashing on them, hit them so the signs stop all the same. This will give you the stone slab or beak(you get the beak if you have DX). Message on the wall. -Translation-when you come across a room with spikey baddies use your shield to flip them.
4.In the room (4,5) push the block on the far left.

This will open the door. Now get the Roc's Feather. You can use it to jump over enemys and holes.
5. Defeat mini-boss in (7,3). To defeat him jump over the rolling log and slash him. The Whirling Blade attack works the best.
6.To get the Nightmare's Key jump over a hole with a key block in it. 7.Now go up from where the mini-boss was and go into the Nightmare's Lair!
8.To defeat the boss hit his tail as fast as you can. Don't use your shield or he might knock you off the ledge. If that happens climb back up and try again. About five hacks will do the trick. If you have a piece of power it takes 2.
9.Congratulations! You beat the first level.

You can come back with bombs and bomb the wall to get a secret seashell.
