the begining of my notes from HSF
WAHHOOOOO!!! HSMF!!! FIRST INCIDENT(S)!!!! : ) : ) : ) : )
What an incident to begin with!
SCI has gotten better and better every time I've seen them since
their smokin set on the side stage at the 7/96 HSF.
It's amazing how folks such as DG and Angor
(and paul mccandless in
the past) can fit in so well.
there was a much higher concentration of Cheeseheads.
The band
REALLY got the crowd going with an incredible, (THANK YOU GOD!)
"Texas"!!!!
It was magic.
Speaking of the high concentration of cheeseheads, I'm sorry I missed
so many of you.
I had expected to run into Scott/ Eric Burns/ and Colin
Gibbons at a minimum.
Next time for sure guys.
I just got so carried away with the music and partying with my
friends.
I'm sure I saw a bunch of you even if we didn't recognize each other.
It took me til Sat to actually make it to the SCI encampment (cool
flag BTW).
No one could really direct me to any of the folks I knew by
name,
so we wandered off after a nice conversation with Stacy (hi Stacy).
No one even noticed my bulls dye to score the free tapes.
A new
convert at my camp site scored one of them
and the other (1/97 Lake Tahoe,
CA)will go out to the first that can email me
with the country of Toni
Kukoc's origin. (tape offer closed)
Quincy was a great location, but Bear Valley is "home".
Someone mentioned to me in private email (sorry I lost the note) that
a farmer in bear valley was pissed about the pullout
("if my land isn't
good enough for July then it's not good enough for Sept).
I was
listening to a Richard Thompson recording from 96
and they mentioned
all the landowners (the gov't, a bank, the Fire Department and someone
else...not a farmer)
are not individuals so this is unlikely.
Every indication was that the fest would return to bear valley in Sept.
peace and good things,
-Mark
