Wine Sauce
- ..1/2 cup ruby port
- ..1/2 cup sherry
- ..4 Tbsp lemon juice
- ..1/2 cup Curacao
- 1 pint whipping cream
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
- 2 pints strawberries, washed and hulled
- To make the wine sauce, pour the port, sherry, lemon juice and Curacao into a bowl; mix together and chill.
- Whip the whipping cream until soft peaks form.
- Add the sugar, and whip together for a moment. (Whipping cream always whips best when it is very cold. You may even want to chill the bowl you are using to whip it in.)
- Using either glass dessert bowls or large wine goblets, place a large scoop of ice cream in each.
- Top the ice cream with 1/2 cup of strawberries. (You might halve some of the strawberries if they are large.)
- Pour 1/4 cup wine sauce over each portion, and top with the whipped cream.
Serves 6-8.
