- Use the standard King Cake recipe.
- After the cake is baked, make 'half slices' into THREE different sections of the cake before adding the frosting.
- In these slits, remove a little of the baked cake (don't throw it away - eat it!), and fill the slits with any of the fillings listed below.
- Then 'push it back together', frost, and sprinkle with colored sugars.
Filling #1: One 8-ounce package of cream cheese, softened, mixed with 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
Filling #2: One can lemon pie filling OR strawberry pie filling OR blueberry pie filling.
When you cut into the filled King Cake, some slices will have the filling, some won't.
