- 3 cups yellow corn meal
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1/4 cup Romano cheese
- Tomato or V8 Cocktail juice
- Oil for frying
- Combine dry ingredients, mixing well; add enough tomato juice to get the consistency of thick mush.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a heavy skillet until smoking. Drop meal mixture from a tablespoon into the hot oil, frying quickly. Drain on paper towels or brown grocery bags.
Serve hot with fried fish.
