Hush Puppies

Hush Puppies are usually served with fried fish. (They originated in the South from the cooks throwing them to the howling dogs who smelled the food cooking.)

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  2. Add onions, buttermilk and egg. Let batter stand 5 minutes (makes them lighter).
  3. Drop by tablespoonful into deep hot oil.
  4. Fry to a golden brown. Drain.
