- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 square melted chococlate
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- Dash of salt
- Maraschino cherries, well-drained
- Mix together the butter and powdered sugar. Stir in melted chocolate and vanilla. Stir in flour. Mix well.
- Take about 1 tablespoon of dough and flatten in hand. Wrap around a maraschino cherry and place on a greased cookie sheet.
- Repeat until dough is used.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes in 350° oven. Drizzle with frosting while warm.
Makes about 1 1/2 dozen cookies.
NOW THIS IS HOW I DO IT.
I double the recipe and it is just about right for a good size jar of cherries. I use 3 tablespoons of cocoa instead of melted chocolate and then add a little cooking oil just to make the mixture hold together and easier to handle.
