- 2 pkg frozen, chopped broccoli OR spinach
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable liquid (from cooking)
- salt, cayenne, garlic powder to taste
- 6-oz roll Jalopano cheese (cut into small pieces)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire
- Cook veggie according to package directions. Drain and reserve liquid.
- Melt butter in saucepan on LOW heat.
- Add flour, stirring until blended. Add onion and cook until soft.
- Add vegetable liquid and milk, stir.
- Add seasonings and cheese and stir until smooth. Combine with broccoli or spinach.
This may be served immediately, or put into baking dish and topped with buttered bread crumbs. Best if made the day before. If chilled overnight, preheat oven to 350 and bake, uncovered, for 35-40 min. or until heated through. Freezes well.
