Here is the Broccoli salad recipe that is sold in a lot of delis. You can use half broccoli and half cauliflower, some use red onion instead of green, some leave out the raisins. Most add shredded cheddar cheese.
- 4 to 5 cup broccoli flowerets
- 5 green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup hulled sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup golden raisins
- 1 (16 oz) pkg bacon
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 6 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- Place bacon in a large skillet. Cook, turning frequently, over medium-high heat until evenly browned. Cool, crumble, and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine broccoli, green onions, sunflower seeds, raisins, and bacon. Toss to combine.
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar, and red wine vinegar.
- Toss with vegetables to coat. Chill.
