Apple Pan Dowdy
  1. Prepare apples and place in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent 'browning'.
  2. Combine sugar and flour in a saucepan. Stir in water and molasses. Cook until thickened and mix in other ingredients. Pour over apples.
  3. To make 'Topping', sift dry ingredients together. Cut in butter. Add milk and stir until blended.
  4. Drop mixture by spoonful over apples.
  5. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes.
