- 5 cups apples, pared and wedge-sliced (or chunks)
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp water
- Crisp:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- Prepare the apples sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Arrange apples evenly in a 1.5 litre (1.5 quart) baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Add water and mix to coat the apples.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and add the brown sugar. Blend in oats, flour and cinnamon. Mix by hand until mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle batter evenly over the apples.
- Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until topping is golden.
