- Vanilla ice cream
- 2 cups half and half cream
- 1 Tbsp vanilla flavoring
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 Tbsp Kahlua
- In small heavy saucepan, mix Half and Half with vanilla flavor and bring just to a boil Remove pan from heat.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar; add half and half mixture, whisking as you add.
- Transfer the mixture to a heavy saucepan and cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until it thickens slightly. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Allow to cool completely, then add Kahlua.
- Chill the sauce for 2 hours, or until it is very cold.
May be made a couple of days in advance. Serve over ice cream
