It's 1984 and racing is getting shadowed by the growing world of freestyle.
One of the leaders and most influential riders of that movement was
R.L. Osborn who was the Captain of BMX Action Magazine's Trick Team and one of BMX Action's test riders.
Most every freestylers in the 1980's used Skyway's Tuff-Wheels
since there was no strong/light spoked wheel and not to mention Skyway was very active in sponsorship.
Check out the rear brake guard. These were used to minimize the chances of your shoe getting caught on or your leg getting tore up
on the side pull brakes, using a brake guard was a good idea if your were running a quick release brake!
The picture's inset shows the flange on the Tuff's, white
brake pads to minimize ugly rim brake surface build up and Redline's fork.
