The Internet Emergency Broadcast System

For Use by Law Enforcement

How It Works

The following is an overview of how the current system can assist law enforcement in missing child cases as well as other crime solving situations. The system is available to all law enforcement free of charge, as a public service to help recover missing children. Corporate sponsors, advertisers, and sales of Child Security Systems support our efforts.

The Internet Emergency Broadcast system, "the system" allows for law enforcement to contact Safe Kids International, "International" in the event of a missing child. Law enforcement or the parent then provides "International" with the child's photo and pertinent information. International then prepares a "missing child alert" complete with color photo, pertinent information and proper law enforcement contact. The "missing child alert" is then posted to a dedicated page on our website. Immediately "International" begins to disburse an electronic mail alert to its extensive database of on-line law enforcement agencies, media outlets, transportation terminals, hospitals, schools, universities, churches, and a group of private citizens, known as the Safe Kids International Guard. The disbursements are targeted geographically by state and in some instances by county. Alerts can be sent to thousands of agencies and private citizens almost simultaneously, there-by allowing for the creation of immediate awareness.

In the case of a missing child, the message to the recipient states that "there is a missing child in your area" and provides a hotlink to the flier formatted, "Missing Child Alert". The recipient can print out as many flyers as they like and distribute them in the community. Media outlets are encouraged to post the information and direct the public to the website to print and distribute fliers.

As time is a critical factor in the recovery of a missing child, our system has been designed to react quickly in an emergency situation. Awareness of the missing child is almost immediate once "International" receives the information. We have the ability to post the website and begin disbursing the emergency alerts within 30 minutes of our receipt.

There are no geographic limitations to the system. Information is transferred around the world, as quickly as it can be transferred next door. Over the last 1.5 years, we have developed a database of over 50,000; law enforcement agencies, media outlets, transportation terminals, hospitals, schools, universities and churches to contact.

We recently began to enroll the general public to volunteer for the cause and the number of volunteers is growing daily. We anticipate the private citizens effort will be the largest segment of the database, numbering over 1,000,000 by the end of the year.

We feel that proper use of the system will have an impact on recovering missing children, as well as assist in other law enforcement cases. Again, we are offering our system as a pubic service, and no compensation is sought.

To maximize the effectiveness of the system, we need law enforcement to provide us with pertinent information in a timely manner.

We can not be of assistance until we receive the information. We have virtually no way of obtaining the information that a child is missing unless you provide it to us. As you are well aware, the first few hours that a child is missing are the most crucial. Our broadcast can begin immediately upon receipt, creating greater awareness in a shorter time period.

To contact us regarding a missing child, you may call our offices from 8 Am to 6 PM, EST, @ 1-888-820-KIDS ( 5437 ). After hours we have implemented a 24 hour emergency hotline # 1-888-775-FIND, (3463). The missing child's photo and information may be sent via Email to skig@skig.org , sent by an overnight courier, or hand delivered. In the event that a picture is not available in a timely manner, text can be faxed to us @ 732-974- 5436. We can post a text only alert and then re-post the alert at a later date, to include a picture when one is available.

Thank you for your time in reviewing the information, and we look forward to hearing from you in the near future. For further information please visit our website@ www.skig.org.
